What is YouPOLL?
YouPOLL is the app for creating polls and surveys, running elections and market research, sharing your opinions and getting answers to the questions that matter to you. Post publicly to the whole world, privately to friends and groups, or to a chosen audience, and repost your content as often as you like.
Your account
- Sign up with your email. We send you a one-time code to confirm it, then you choose a password and your username. Your username is permanent: it is your identity on YouPOLL.
- You must be 16 or older to use YouPOLL.
- One personal account per phone. Each personal account belongs to one phone, and each phone has one personal account. Votes can’t be changed once cast. That is why every vote on YouPOLL is one real person, and why YouPOLL works for elections. You can move your account to a new phone with a code we email you.
- Business accounts are separate, by subscription. They can’t vote, but they can buy Poll Points to sponsor polls to a chosen audience, use every Gold feature, and they see no ads. Soon they will also be able to pay cash to the first people who answer, for fast results.
- Private account: in Settings you can make your profile private, so only friends see your polls.
Asking questions
- Polls have one question and up to 3 answers on a free account (more with Gold).
- Multiple choice: let voters pick more than one answer.
- “Write your own”: add an answer where voters type their own reply (up to 150 characters). Their names are never shown with it.
- Surveys have as many questions as you need, answered one after the other.
- Attachments: add pictures, videos (up to 60 seconds), audio recordings (up to 5 minutes), PDF documents and website links to your question or to each answer, for example a candidate’s campaign material.
- Hashtags: put # before a word and it becomes a link to search for it.
- Opinions are posts to share what you think. You can attach up to three polls to an opinion.
Who can see and answer
- World Archive: public. Anyone can find your poll and vote.
- Invitation only: only the friends, groups and usernames you send it to can see and answer it. Even someone holding the link can’t open it unless they were invited.
- Post anonymously: your name isn’t shown to other people. See “Safety” below for what this means.
- Hide from MyPolls: keep a poll off your profile, for example a family poll on a public account.
- Who sees results: everyone, only people who have voted, or only you. You can also turn comments off at any time; turning them back on brings the comments back.
Sharing links and voting on the web
- Every poll and survey has a share link like
youpoll.app/p/k7Qm2xR9. When someone with the app taps it, the poll opens straight in YouPOLL (a survey starts at question 1). - Without the app, the link opens the poll on this website. Public polls can be read by anyone. The creator can turn onWeb voting so people can vote without the app: one vote per browser. Web votes count in the poll’s results (“120 responses · 15 web votes”) but not in its detailed statistics.
- The creator can turn a link off at any time; sharing again makes a new link.
Results and statistics
- Results come in live, with a breakdown by gender.
- Detailed statistics filter the results by age, gender, place and occupation of the voters, and show them as pie charts, bar charts or tables. Share them as a picture or export them to a spreadsheet (CSV) for Excel, Sheets or Numbers.
- To protect voters, a filter that leaves fewer than 5 people shows no numbers. Voters’ year of birth, gender, place and occupation are never shown with their name.
Gold
Gold is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks four things: more than 3 answers, detailed statistics, surveys, and keeping results to yourself. Free accounts get one free try of each. The price is shown in the App Store or Google Play.
Poll Points
- You get 1 Poll Point for every poll you vote on. A survey gives 1 point per question, all together once you have answered every question. There is no daily limit.
- Sponsoring is targeted reach. It costs 10 Poll Points for each person reached, not for each answer: your poll or survey goes to that person’s Sponsored inbox. Pick an age range, places, occupations and gender, see how many people match, and choose how many to reach. When more people match than you pay for, it goes to the most recently active. Answering is voluntary, so responses are not guaranteed, and adding a cash reward is optional.
- Personal accounts sponsor with the points they earn. Only business accounts can buy Poll Points, in the app. Bought points can’t be turned into cash.
- Your balance and history are on the Poll Points page in the app.
Cash rewards · coming soon
Cash Points are on their way. Here is how they will work, so you can get ready.
- Everything is in euros. You will be able to turn Poll Points you earned into cash: 100 Poll Points = €0.50 (200 = €1), and the €5 minimum withdrawal needs 1,000 points. Bought Poll Points can’t be turned into cash.
- Cash polls: businesses will be able to pay from €0.10 up to €20 each to the first people (up to 500) who answer a poll or finish a survey. You’ll see a gold € sign on those polls showing how much they pay and how many paid places are left.
- Withdrawals will go to your PayPal account in blocks of €5 (€5, €10, €15…). The PayPal fee is shown before you confirm, and each withdrawal is paid 7 days after you ask for it.
- Amounts and rates are shown in the app and may change.
Safety and fair play
- Content is moderated. Report a poll, comment or answer and our team reviews it. Hate speech, harassment, threats, sexual content and illegal content are removed.
- Three strikes: the first confirmed offence brings a warning, the second a last warning, and the third deletes the account and blocks the phone and email from new accounts. Offensive posts may be hidden while they are reviewed.
- Anonymous isn’t untraceable. Other users can’t see who posted anonymously, but YouPOLL’s administrators can, and the same rules apply.
- Creating extra accounts to vote more than once, or to collect rewards, is not allowed.
Deleting things
- Deleting a poll or survey removes it for everyone, with its answers, comments and files. Points people already earned stay with them.
- You can delete your account in Settings (your password is needed). Everything you created is deleted, and your points and any cash left in your balance can’t be recovered.
